L'Alba's music is characterised by Mediterranean sounds, voices deeply rooted in tradition and an eclectic array of instruments. The attention paid to composition and arrangement gives its polyphonic songs a singular character. The musicians and singers of L'Alba like to say that their Corsican musical tradition is not static, but living, evolving and on the move. Over the last few years, the group has built up an ever-growing collective around its core members.
Musicians of exceptional talent have joined the group and become involved in its musical universe, following the example of Régis Gizavo, whose enthusiasm for taking part in this adventure was always perceptible.
The Indian harmonium, the bass and the guitar form the basis of L'Alba's music, while the improvising soloists (violin, wind instruments) adapt to their phrasing the characteristic melismas of the ancestral polyphonic singing that they also practise. The polyphonic vocal ensemble serves the voice that carries the main melody, always respecting the aesthetics of traditional singing.
L'Alba offers an invitation to travel, with each concert different from the next; the listener is always carried away to other lands, so varied are the variations and so broad is the musical palette. During this journey, the singing tour is essentially made up of new works, accompanied by a few traditional pieces sung a cappella by three singers, faithful to the ancestral practice of agro-pastoralists.
Full price: €25, 12 to 17 years: €15 (free for children under 12).
