The Meridianu group was born in inland Balagne, where centuries-old olive trees flourish.
Like the roots of the tree of peace, it is in this land steeped in history that Meridianu draws the inspiration and strength it expresses in its songs.
For the group, cultural heritage is the foundation on which the present is built and from which the future is forged.
Meridianu has chosen to draw on the richness of a heritage that has largely been saved from oblivion by the research and recording work of F. Quilici and F. Flori, among others. Flori and others.
Today, Meridianu is endeavouring to continue this mission by going out into the villages in search of the last songs that can still be found today. This does not mean taking refuge in a backward-looking attitude. Indeed, while a great effort is made to restore the authenticity of the songs of Corsica's past, it is naturally from these solid foundations that the group sings the songs of the present day.
The natural approach is to combine tradition and modernity.
The repertoire, which includes a wealth of new material, is also distinguished by the diversity of the themes tackled and a desire to open up to the world, as the name Meridianu suggests.
To live one's own culture intensely, to share it by reaching out to others, to exchange ideas in order to appreciate what brings people together, but also to see differences as enriching.
These are the values that the group has chosen to convey and offer to the public.
Price: €20 (free for children under 16).
