As part of the Mission Odyssea exhibition, organised by Bonifacio Town Hall, the Centre Culturel - Médiathèque is pleased to invite you to a lecture entitled:
"In the wake of Ulysses: Greek mythology, the Odyssey and Corsica".

The talk will be given by Thomas Combaz, a temporary teaching and research associate at the University of Limoges and a doctoral student working on a joint thesis with the Catholic University of Louvain.

Corsica, known as Kyrnos in ancient Greece, occupies a special place in mythological accounts. According to ancient poets and annalists, heroes such as Heracles, Aeneas and Ulysses stayed there. A famous extract from the Odyssey (Canto X, verses 81-99) refers to an island, that of the Lestrygons, whose description could, according to some researchers, correspond to the landscape of Bonifacio.

This talk will explore this fascinating hypothesis by retracing Ulysses' itineraries and examining the place of Corsica in the mythical cartography of the Mediterranean.

Free admission.
