Jacques-Louis David is a monument in the history of art. A leader of the neoclassical movement, he created images that still haunt our collective imagination today: Marat assassinated, Bonaparte crossing the Alps, Napoleon's coronation...

A prolific artist who was deeply committed to his era, he was able to depict the major events, major figures and ideals of a period of profound upheaval, between the French Revolution and the Empire.

Through his most famous paintings, as well as those conserved in the Musée Fesch in Ajaccio, this microlecture offers an insight into the man, the artist and his time, and a better understanding of why his work remains so powerful and relevant today.
