Piantarella beach is a 15-minute drive from the centre of Bonifacio.
A popular windy spot for fans of wing and other sailing activities, the Piantarella lagoon attracts a lot of people during the summer season. Early mornings and late afternoons are best for swimming and water sports.
How to get there from Bonifacio :
- head towards Pertusato and then straight on,
- At the end of the road towards Sperone and Piantarella, after the entrance to the Golf de Sperone on your right, you will need to park.
Good to know: in 2025 and 2026, the town of Bonifacio will provide pedestrian access and car parks. In the meantime, as parking spaces are limited, parking along the road is tolerated.
On arriving, opposite, there is a small harbour. On the left is the sailing school. Piantarella beach is on the right, continuing on foot past the few rocks. There's plenty of space to sit back and enjoy the view. Piantarella is a wild beach: no white sand here, but banks of posidonia and seaweed that can sometimes give off a typical smell in summer. But that doesn't stop the more 'rootsy' among us from lounging around. The beach isn't dirty - quite the opposite! Posidonia are a sign of good health and it is forbidden to remove them: the wind and currents will do the rest.
Then imagine, in front of you, the turquoise waters of the lagoon with its shallow sandbank reminiscent of the most exotic lagoons. Further on, opposite, the small island of Piana completes the superb panorama.
Many birds nest on the island of Piana, so disembarking there is highly inadvisable and totally forbidden from 15 December to 15 April. Be vigilant during the crossing too. Whichever option you choose, the winds and currents between the beach and the island of Piana can be very strong and can put you in danger. Check the weather forecast on a reliable application a few hours before your activity.

If you continue to the right, after a 10-minute walk you'll come to the beautiful Petit Sperone cove, and if you're not too tired, continue along the magnificent path that runs alongside the famous Sperone golf course. This will take you to the larger, south-facing Grand Sperone beach.
Please note that Piantarella is not accessible to people with reduced mobility (PRM).
