Wonderful RondinaraA setting where sea and scrub meet

Rondinara Beach

Meet us halfway between Bonifacio and Porto-Vecchio. Away from the hustle and bustle of the road, the calm of Rondinara, a beach with an astonishingly rounded shape, quite spectacular in its beauty. The place is wild, the waters crystalline and shallow. It’s a dream place to unwind, recharge your batteries and enjoy the surrounding nature.

A seashell beach

Sauvage Rondinara

Imagine Rondinara: a shell-shaped beach lined with small coves cut off from each other by rocks. In front of you, the Bouches de Bonifacio Nature Reserve, with its transparent waters and unique marine flora and fauna. Behind you, dense scrubland, trees, shade, and just as many animals as humans enjoying the place. Occasionally, cows try to wander along the water’s edge… In this case, there’s only one thing to do: leave them alone and stay away. An animal is an animal…

From one cove to the next, you can laze on the fine sand, taking the time to recharge your batteries and enjoy the children and their games in a sea so gently sloping that its temperature quickly becomes one of the most pleasant. A real daydream.

“Like all exceptional beaches, Rondinara is a popular one. Plan to visit in the morning, when it’s quieter for sunbathing, sipping cocktails and splashing around.”

Walks around the beach

If lounging in the sun isn’t your cup of tea, Rondinara has other attractions to tempt you. How about a short, easy hike with a Seychelles-style panorama? Punta di Rondinara, a signposted path accessible from the parking lot, offers you the chance to take photos worthy of a travel magazine, all this after walking just three kilometers and with a difference in altitude of around 50 meters that even the youngest will have no trouble navigating. Further south of the beach, the Punta di Prisarella trail is even easier to access, as it’s almost always flat. Along the park path, a loop joins the small Prisarella beach and runs along the south side of the pond. Here again, the panorama is grandiose, and even the shortest legs won’t feel the fatigue.

The bay of Rondinara was formed slowly, at the whim of the sea currents that carried the sediment over the millennia. A tombolo – a strip of sand and gravel – linked the southern island to the coast during the last marine regression. Two more were formed, and the Punta di Prisarella closed in to form the present-day pond.

The wow effect

You know that slightly disconcerting feeling when you discover a new place and are left speechless? There’s a good chance that Rondinara has that effect on you. And if you’ve ever seen images taken from the sky, you’ll easily understand what we’re talking about. If you haven’t, take a few steps up the trail and you’ll see the wow effect…

With its translucent waters and harmonious, rounded shape, Rondinara is the kind of bay you’d expect to find in Thailand or the Seychelles. A change of scenery is guaranteed in Bonifacio, in the protected environment of the Bouches.

The environment to seduce you

Birds, fish and endemic or rare grasses share the bay of Rondinara and are willing to let you in on some of its secrets. It’s still a wilderness area, even though there’s a beach restaurant and parking facilities. You’re sure to find a spot of white sand where you can lay down your towel and simply bask in the warmth of the sun on your skin. We already envy you…
