‘Cupid and Psyche – Beauty is a Curse’ reimagines the famous ancient myth in a contemporary theatrical production, blending poetry, dreams and dramatic tension. In an old, abandoned theatre, a young girl is abducted by a family of actors who have turned to a life of crime. To calm her, one of them tells her the story of Cupid and Psyche. Little by little, the mythological tale comes to life and blends with reality, blurring the boundaries between everyday life, dreams and nightmares. Directed by Orlando Forioso, the production explores love in all its forms, as well as the beauty, fragility and torments of contemporary youth. Music, video and imagery accompany the actors to create a visual and sensory experience that is as spellbinding as it is moving. Starring Chiara Di Girolamo as Psyche, Sampiero Medori as Love/Cupid, Marie-Paule Franceschetti, Michele Onori and Misandra Fondacci.
