Description
Here is a beach that has it all. Close to the centre of Bonifacio (about 15 minutes’ drive) and extremely easy to get to, families will find plenty of space here to relax and have fun, whilst walkers can explore a stunning coastal path.
As a bit of history, La Tunara (Tonnara in French) was once a tiny fishing village specialising in tuna fishing. This is where the beach gets its name, as the locals used fishing nets called ‘tonnara’ to catch large fish such as bluefin tuna and swordfish. Today, the village has all but disappeared, but it remains renowned for its magnificent and unspoilt sandy and rocky beach.
With its sand and crystal-clear water, the beach retains a very ‘natural’ feel, even though a large free car park and two restaurants are just a few metres away. You can relax whilst enjoying the view of the islands directly opposite – an unforgettable panorama at sunset. If you’re looking for more action, why not try the water sports on offer at the beach or take a stroll along the coastal path, which offers stunning scenery.
From mid-June to the end of September, the town of Bonifacio sets up a beach volleyball net.
Non-smoking beach.
Please remember that you are in a nature reserve, the Bouches de Bonifacio. Please follow the rules displayed on the signs and take all your rubbish with you.
