From the ‘Island of Beauty’ – Corsica – to the ‘Intense Island’ of Réunion, Julie Chaffurin is a state-qualified mountain guide, tour operator and manager of the TREKORS mountain agency based in Alta Rocca, in the heart of the mountains, organising treks in Corsica to discover authentic Corsican spots and explore the island’s hidden treasures. Passionate about ethnobotany following several years as an eco-guard in a protected natural area, monitoring exceptional heritage species of both flora and fauna (the Cuscionu plateau), Julie is keen to share these gentle moments of happiness, which consist of a delightful blend of encounters with nature and local culture, stories, tales and legends woven between traditional villages, hidden pools and waterfalls, panoramic views at sunrise or sunset, the scents of the maquis and the sound of birdsong in forests with such distinctive tree species that you feel a connection with a side of nature sometimes forgotten in our fast-paced society… With a university degree in Sports Science, complemented by a University Diploma in Wine & Gastronomy and a University Diploma in Ethnomedicine, Julie offers walks tailored to everyone’s needs: long, challenging hikes for the fit and active, Joëlette walks for those with reduced mobility, treasure hunts and scavenger hunts for families or corporate groups, wellness walks (including an introduction to qigong, yoga or forest bathing) and storytelling walks, as well as snowshoe walks with toboggan descents and an introduction to safety equipment for searching for avalanche victims. At your mountain accommodation, in the heart of the forest or in a renovated old mill, Julie also offers massages (5 Continents using a blend of 8 and 9 essential oils, detoxifying and regenerating; vibrational massage with Tibetan singing bowls, invigorating or relaxing; deep tissue massage for athletes, using oil, and, in cases of inflammation, cupping therapy, “chi nei tsang”: focusing on the abdomen and internal organs for emotional release; “hasta abhyanga”: from the hands to the elbows, incorporating “marma” pressure points and a suitable oil, during which you remain fully clothed and lying down). To each their own mountain, and the mountains are for everyone – but above all, the mountains are all the more beautiful when shared! So… let’s go! I am involved in the executive committee of the Corsican Local Branch of the SNAM, a member of the VVE, part of the ‘Ecoresponsables’ travel organisers’ network, a founding member of ANEST (the National Agency for Eco and Slow Tourism), and also active in numerous associations dedicated to the protection and preservation of biodiversity.
