Our environmental, social and societal policy
Making tourism a driving force for the region
At the Bonifacio Municipal Tourist Office, we are committed to a more conscious, respectful and sustainable form of tourism.
Through our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) approach and the ‘Destination of Excellence’ initiative, we aim to ensure that tourism respects the natural balance, promotes local resources, benefits the people of Bonifacio and preserves the spirit of the place.
Our priorities
Preserving landscapes and biodiversity
In the Strait of Bonifacio, the ecological richness is exceptional… and vulnerable. We want to take action to protect natural habitats on land and at sea, minimise pressure on sensitive sites, and raise awareness amongst everyone of the actions we can take to preserve the natural world.
Caring for water and resources
On an island subject to significant seasonal variations, conserving resources is essential. Reducing consumption, avoiding waste and promoting more responsible practices are among the commitments we wish to share with local businesses, residents and visitors.
Taking action on climate change
Corsica, Bonifacio – our island region still relies on transport that generates emissions. This reality means we must go further: reduce our carbon footprint, encourage sustainable transport, and promote tourism that is more evenly spread throughout the year.

Behind every experience, there are men and women. We value local expertise, producers and craftspeople, and dedicated professionals, because we believe in a form of tourism that is deeply rooted in its local area and respectful of those who bring it to life every day.

Respecting Bonifacio means:
Protecting the environment
On land…
- You use sun cream that’s kind to the environment and the sea.
- Whether on the beach or out walking, you pick up all your rubbish: cigarette ends and packaging are taken away with you or put in the bin.
- You follow the signposted trails to protect the flora and fauna.
- You do not take any plants or animals.
- When taking part in motorised activities, you follow your guide and only travel within the areas designated for that activity.

…and at sea
- You must only moor your boat in authorised areas. Anchoring in Posidonia seagrass beds is prohibited.
- You must comply with fishing regulations and quotas, and check with the relevant authorities.
- Whether snorkelling or diving, you must respect marine ecosystems and comply with the regulations in force.
