Description

This is the wildest and most unspoilt beach in Bonifacio (difficult to access). It makes for a lovely stop-off on the hiking trails. Its fine sandy seabed stretches out at shallow depths for a good ten metres. Paragan Beach is certainly accessible by car, but you’ll need to arrive very early to secure a space in the tiny car park and avoid encountering other cars on the narrow road. You can also walk there from Bonifacio Marina (via the Strada Veccia path) or from the Hermitage of La Trinité (the paths are signposted). This would make for a lovely walk with Paragan as your destination. For Paragan is a beautiful beach, nestled at the end of a bay with turquoise waters. And it’s a ‘pure and natural’ beach. Indeed, for beach nourishment purposes, the Posidonia beds (consisting of simple dead seaweed detached from the seabed) are deliberately left in their natural state and cover the sand. Some may see this as a drawback, whilst others will view it as an ecological and constructive effort to preserve the coastline. We, for one, love it. Don’t forget that you’re in a nature reserve – the Bouches de Bonifacio Nature Reserve. Please follow the rules displayed on the signs and take all your rubbish away with you.
