There are plenty of ways to get to Bonifacio and get around once you’re there: on foot, by bike, by scooter, by motorbike, on the tourist train from the Marina to the Citadel, by bus and coach, by campervan, by boat or by car (car-sharing where possible), by boat or by plane…

Walking

a first step towards sustainable transport

We almost tend to forget it, but walking is undoubtedly the best way to explore an area, however high up it may be. Good for your health and adaptable to everyone’s pace, there are no contraindications to this physical and eco-friendly activity. To get to know the town properly: the Citadel and the Marina, the various paths linking them, and the stops for the little train. The little tourist train in Bonifacio

Getting to the citadel by public transport

Fun, punctual and running frequently, Bonifacio’s little tourist train offers a pleasant introduction to the town, linking the Marina to the Citadel. A ticket purchased at the harbour guarantees you a return journey to the starting point every 30 to 45 minutes. The train always departs from behind the harbour master’s office. The ticket office is right next to it. You’ll need to keep your tickets so you can board the train in the Upper Town for the return journey.  Once the train is full, it will take you to the Carotola stop, a stone’s throw from Place Fondago, the heart of the Citadel.

Scooters and motorbikes

Did you know? Thanks to their smaller size and lower fuel consumption, scooters and motorbikes are less polluting than cars. That’s a good reason to switch to motorised two-wheelers for your trip to Corsica, and to Bonifacio in particular. If you’re travelling by motorbike or scooter, please use the dedicated, free parking spaces for two-wheelers in Bonifacio. If you’d like to hire a scooter or motorbike, please note that you can have it delivered directly to Figari Airport or to your accommodation in Bonifacio.

If you’re arriving by plane at Figari, Ajaccio or Bastia airports, or by ferry from Porto-Vecchio or Propriano, you’ll find a wide choice of car hire companies on arrival.
